Led by Callaway Gardens Summer Family Adventure counselors, guests partake in a variety of thrilling day-camp activities, with children aged 5 – 17 enjoying group events while adults indulge in their own diverse lineup of offerings. Afternoons and evenings bring families together for beach games, competitions, bingo, trivia, evening shows, and more! Running for seven weeks in June and July, with options for four to seven-night stays, this adventure is perfect for families seeking fun and relaxation. Our younger campers, ages 5-17 spend their days in the Gardens participating in fun outdoor events like swimming, treetop adventure, golf, fishing, and more! We offer daily adult programming as well. Our adult guests may choose to be as active or as relaxed as they please. Your children will be well taken care or, so enjoy yourself!
Children must be at least 5 years of age to participate in daily camp programs, and must be potty trained. Children under 5 years of age can participate in family activities, but do not qualify for drop off camp events.
The list is seemingly endless! Activities include, but not limited to, golf, Treetop Adventure, Beach Olympics, boating, canoeing and kayaking, Birds of Prey shows, and much, much more! You’ll also have access to all of our Gardens attractions, which include the Cecil B, Day Butterfly Center, Callaway Brothers Azalea Bowl, Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel, Pioneer Log Cabin, 10-mile Discovery Bicycle Trail, seven miles of nature trails, gift shops, pro shops and a variety of restaurants.
Summer Family Adventure began in 1960 as the first family vacation program of its kind. The unique setting, scope of programming and beautiful location sets us apart from similar programs launched later.
Callaway Resort & Gardens is located in Pine Mountain, Georgia – 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus. This quaint town includes a small grocery store, a pharmacy, two banks, several churches, and a variety of shops selling antiques, art, apparel, and gift items. You can also enjoy horseback riding and hiking in nearby FDR State Park, as well as historic landmarks in the surrounding area.
You’ll meet families from all across the country, as well as a few from abroad. Many families have made SFA a part of their family tradition for generations. Parents and grandparents share their childhood memories as campers. Friendships are created that extend beyond the summer. Families and friends often gather to celebrate special moments such as reunions, anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, graduations and more. Because this program is so popular most families make their reservations a year in advance. Once you experience it you’ll see so many families keep coming back!
You’ll want to bring attire that you would wear for a vacation at the beach, plus activity-appropriate clothing. Items we recommend include:
Shorts, t-shirts, casual pants, sundresses, swimsuits, cover-ups, collared shirts for golf, water shoes/sandals, closed-toe athletic shoes, hats, light jacket, rain gear just in case!)
Small backpacks or bags for each guest
Sunblock, insect repellant, sunglasses, hats, water bottles
Beach towels (towels are provided for pool and bathroom use but are not available for use at Robin Lake Beach)
Equipment for golf, and fishing (gear Is provided for camp activities)
Cameras, camcorders, portable DVD player and movies
Books, puzzles, board games
Your accommodations will have a fully equipped kitchen. If you plan to cook your own meals, you may bring food or purchase it after you arrive.
Guests are welcome to bring their own bicycles and helmets, or they may rent from Callaway Gardens. However, we do not have bikes with training wheels. You can also rent Callaway Cruiser golf carts from the Pro Shop!
Guests are invited to enjoy the two restaurants, Piedmont Dining Room and Cason’s Tap Room, as well as the luxurious Spa at our Lodge. Unless you are staying at the Lodge & Spa, Summer Family Adventure Guests do not have access to the Lodge Pool. Both Cottage and Villa locations have their own pool areas.
The swimming areas of Robin Lake are six feet deep. There are also shallower areas for all guests to enjoy.
No, while our Gardens contain 7 miles of walking trails, Callaway Gardens footprint is approximately 2,500 acres. We recommend vehicle, bike, or Callaway Cruise golf cart.
Guests are not permitted to bring their personal golf carts to Callaway Resort & Gardens. However, we have golf carts for rent on a daily or weekly basis. Four and Six-Seater Carts may be rented by guests over the age of 21, with a valid driver’s license. Drivers must be over the age of 16 to operate.

Unfortunately, Callaway does not have RV parking, or hook-ups available on property.
Yes. On Sunday night we have a welcome dinner for all families. Please be sure to share this information when making your reservation.
Pets are not permitted in most guest accommodations. There are a limited number of rooms that are pet-friendly (pet cleaning fee applies). We will be happy to provide you with local kennel information.
Washers and dryers are standard in every villa, and a small coin-operated laundromat is located in the Soap Opera House, within the Cottage complex.
Callaway Resort & Gardens has a security team that patrols the property 24 hours a day and assists when needed. Callaway is located within the Pine Mountain city limits and in Harris County allowing their respective law enforcement to assist our security team when needed.
