Why do some birds stay while others travel thousands of miles each year? In this hands-on program, young naturalists will learn how and why birds migrate, practice using binoculars, and identify common species found in our area during the fall migration season. Get ready to flock together for an afternoon of feathered fun!

October – “Creepy” Critters – October 23, 2025, 1:00-2:30 p.m.
Some of nature’s most fascinating creatures also happen to be the most misunderstood. In this program, students will take a closer look at bats, bugs, spiders, snakes, and other animals often labeled as “creepy.” Through engaging activities and up-close encounters, we’ll explore how these critters survive, what roles they play in the environment, and why they deserve our respect—not our fear.

November – Seasons – November 20, 2025, 1:00-2:30 p.m.
Explore the science behind the seasons! Students will uncover how the Earth’s tilt and orbit cause seasonal changes and how plants and animals adapt throughout the year. Through interactive activities and nature observation, we'll explore signs of the current season and make predictions about what’s to come.

December – Biomes – December 18, 2025, 1:00-2:30 p.m.
Travel the globe without leaving the garden! In this interactive lesson, students will explore the major biomes of the world—from icy tundras to tropical rainforests—and the unique climates, plants, and animals that call them home. We’ll also look at our own biome and how it changes with the seasons.
